Berhane Worku, MD

Berhane Worku, MD, FACC, FACS, is a cardiothoracic surgeon, director of cardiothoracic surgery research and mechanical circulatory support at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Worku is board certified in thoracic surgery and general surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology, and member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery, the American Heart Association and International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a leader in cardiothoracic research and serves as an ad hoc review for the publications, Journals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiology, and Annals of Thoracic Surgery. After graduating from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Worku served his general surgery residency at New York University Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident during his final year. He completed his research and clinical fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center.
